Pay Transparency Reveals Pay Inequities
It may seem obvious, but one of the biggest advantages to pay transparency is that it can help reveal pay inequities amongst employees internally. So often, we have been conditioned to keep our salaries private. But when we share information, it helps shine a light on where inequity may exist.
Clear-Salary recently shared a post on social media about a situation in which an employee learned that the new hire she trained was making more than her. The post went viral with hundreds of thousands of views, thousands of “likes”, and hundreds of comments from individuals finding familiarity with this scenario. It clearly struck a chord! And the only way these inequitable practices come to light is when conversations surrounding pay are normalized. If payment practices continue to stay in the dark, inequity can and will persist.
