Hawaii Enacts Pay-Transparency Law

Hawaii is the latest state to enact a pay-transparency law, following the wave of similar laws enacted across the United States in recent years. Recently, Hawaii Governor Josh Green signed into law SB 1057, which will require employers within the state with at least 50 employees to disclose an hourly rate or salary range that reasonably reflects the expected compensation on job postings. The law is set to take effect January 1, 2024.

This law follows the wave of similar pay-transparency laws that we’ve seen enacted in recent months and years across the county. It also follows many of the similar patterns we’ve seen in such laws by requiring the disclosure of salary ranges in job postings.

Set to take effect next month, Clear-Salary will continue to monitor its roll out and progress in moving the needle towards more pay-transparency in the future.
